CUT ART Gallery invites you to the solo exhibition of the emerging artist Vlad Ogay
“CRUCIFIXIONS”!
CUT ART Gallery invites you to the second exhibition since the opening of the gallery - an
exhibition by the multidisciplinary artist Vlad Ogay, curated by Gianluca Marziani, also known as
curator for the famous artist Banksy. The exhibition will be on view from 8th of September until
20th of October, at Alberta street 1.
Vlad Ogay is a young artist with Korean roots, a graduate of the Moscow Art Theatre School, he is
also currently working as an artist in the theatre and film industry. Vlad Ogay works with film
director Kirill Serebrennikov and has been involved in various film projects as an artist, these films
have been selected and succesfully presented in prestigious award ceremonies in Venice, Berlin,
and Cannes. Previously CUT ART gallery has presented Vlad Ogay at international art fairs such
as at the 17th Contemporary Istanbul, SCOPE Art Show Miami 2022, Unfair Milano 2023, VOLTA
NY 2023.
Gianluca Marziani, the curator of the exhibition, about Ogay's artworks: “Vlad Ogay poses moral
dilemmas in a neurotic and depressive present. He uses the archaic language of symbols with a
high optical and cultural pervasiveness. He favours materials that are readily available in the
consumer circuit beyond the Anthropocene. The Cross becomes the pulsating heart of Vlad
Ogay's form/look. I used the term crucifixion to bring the discourse to the ground of the present,
avoiding rhetoric around the dramas hidden behind certain crosses. The geometric theme of the
cross thus enters the walled border of the Fisherian present, within an infographic system that has
transcended ideologies and dogmatisms but without alternatives to capital.”
The show "CRUCIFIXIONS" is planning to be displayed in Mexico and Berlin in 2024.
The gallery plans to realise 4-6 exhibitions per year and is open to collaborate with young and
talented artists and curators.
The main aim of the art space is to bring internationally renowned artists closer to Latvia and the
other Baltic States, thus developing the careers of our young artists as well as promoting and
integrating Latvian artists into the global art market. The gallery collaborates with renowned artists
such as David Lynch, Robert Whitman, as well as international curators and art critics such as
Emerson Kun-Sheng Wang and others.
