ART VILNIUS

CUT ART Gallery is pleased to present the works of three outstanding artists at the ArtVilnius’24 fair: David Lynch, Vlad Ogay, and Edgars Nikolajevs.

David Lynch – an artist whose five-decade career spans a wide range of artmaking, including painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, sculpture, music, and film. Describing his creative process, he once said: "I used to go to well-lit diners, because in a well-lit diner I could sit and think and daydream and I could go to dark places knowing that I could surface in a well-lit, safe place." His works are surrealistic, figurative, and deeply dedicated to the human unconscious, exploring authentic feelings. His work is lush, energetic, and often saturated with emotion that is otherwise unfathomable and can only be experienced through a dialogue with art.

Edgars Nikolajevs – a young Latvian artist whose work revolves around themes of mortality, future, memories, and the fragility of life. His visual exploration of the human body, mind, and existence in the world, both physical and metaphysical, encompasses both self-reflection and external observation. Nikolajevs' works contribute to immersion in a transcendental state of meditation.

Vlad Ogay – a young artist with strong Korean roots. His main technique is "ready-made." Often, to complete an image created from ready-made materials, the author adds merely a few details, thus subtly bringing the central idea into focus.

The works of Vlad Ogay that CUT ART Gallery will present at ArtVilnius’24 reflect events of recent days and years. However, the works of David Lynch and Edgars Nikolajevs will contribute to immersion in a transcendental state of meditation. The gallery invites to showcase the anxieties of today that are capable of immersing us in reflection and transcendental state.
