Lymassol 2026
Booth: B12
Artist: Ramina Saadatkhan
Ramina Saadatkhan’s practice explores painting as an expanded visual language in which human, animal, and natural forms merge into hybrid, interdependent presences. Her works resist fixed narratives, instead proposing identity as fluid—shaped by instinct, memory, and transformation.
Working from original compositions, she builds richly layered surfaces where color and detail carry emotional and cultural resonance. Rooted in a dialogue between the Caucasus and the Mediterranean, her work reflects a transregional perspective that avoids direct illustration, favoring ambiguity and openness.
Figures appear and dissolve within organic structures, suggesting coexistence rather than hierarchy between beings and their environments. This relational approach positions identity as porous and continuously evolving.
These paintings unfold over time, inviting sustained attention and slow looking. Meaning emerges gradually, revealing tensions between intimacy and universality.
Presented at VIMA 2026, this focused selection introduces a distinctive contemporary voice grounded in painterly intensity and cultural depth.
