Yann Leto is a French artist living in Rome. His main medium is painting, although he also explores installation, sculpture and performance. His work, dense and detailed, is characterized by a critical approach to sociopolitical issues, functioning as a collage in which typographic elements coexist alongside classical and modern references. The interaction between these elements is so precise that empty spaces or “unpainted” planes seem to disappear. Free from constraint, the protagonists of his works belong to an emotional visual circle that repositions the human being in a society dominated by unease. Sporting events, television, trends in social networks and, above all, his personal experience, are sources of inspiration for the distorted scenes he presents us with, surprisingly faithful to the archetypes we can find in reality. Almost like a compulsive collector, Leto stores in several hard drives a vast amount of Google images and press clippings, some of which may be forgotten for years, creating a visual archive that feeds the construction of his own creative universe. Yann Leto's work is featured in collections such as the MoMA of San Francisco, the Benetton Foundation, the Beth de Woody collection, Montparnasse Collection, Sergio Ramos collection, Marquez Art Project, Isco Alarcon collection, Unicaja foundation or CAC Malaga. He has worked with galleries such as Luis Adelantado (Valencia,ES), Galería Karen Huber ( Mexico City, MX), Cámara Oscura (Madrid, ES), T20 (Murcia, ES), Ada Gallery (Richmond, USA) and Mullherin & Pollard (NY, USA); and participated in international fairs such as ARCO, ARTBO, ART AMSTERDAM, ZSONA MACO and ART SHANGHAI. One of his most recognized works is Congress Topless, highlighted in the 2014 edition of ARCO Madrid.
